The Delhi High Court will hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed over the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on the 18th day of his indefeinite hunger strike, on Thursday.
The Delhi High Court deferred the hearing of the PIL on Wednesday as none appeared to represent India government amid a lawyers' strike.
The PIL has been filed by advocate Rakesh Kumar Saini who urged the court to ensure that authorities engage in dialogue with Wangchuk and that he receive proper medical attention.
The litigation also noticably sought direction to force-feed the activist whose health is rapidly deteriorating.
The agitation by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi entered the 26th day on Wednesday and the indefinite fast by Wangchuk entered its 18th day.
According to the health bulletin issued by the outfit, Wangchuk has lost 8.5 kg since the beginning of his fast, and his blood pressure was recorded at 109/70 mm Hg on Tuesday.
